Experienced scientists were asked to conduct independent third party evaluations of the SABR equivalence value white paper. The following letters were submitted to SABR reporting on the results of those evaluations.

Below is a 2009 scientific publication in the peer-reviewed  journal “Energy & Fuels” published by the American Chemical Society regarding use of bond energy for estimating the heating values of biodiesel. This work was performed at the respected academic institution of the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras, India. The paper reported heating values of biodiesel made from fifteen different vegetable oils using bond energy. The methodology used for theoretically estimating the heating value for biodiesel was similar to that used by SABR and shown in their white paper.  The paper also developed experimentally-determined heating values for the biodiesel of the various feedstocks and those values matched the bond energy estimated values within 3%. Hence, this work further validates the approach recommended by SABR to estimate the energy content of fuel molecules using Bond Energy and Heat of Combustion.  The paper cites several papers to which Dr. Jon Van Gerpen is an author. (See Van Gerpen letter above.)
